At the 2023 launch of National Art School’s biennial Festival of Drawing, I worked with teaching colleague and fellow artist Ben Denham to present an evening of performing with some of our custom-built drawing machines. I setup and performed my 3-pendulum harmonograph and another ad-hoc chaotic drawing machine.
Ben’s device uses control voltages to both produce sonic oscillations and to drive a large x-y pen plotter he built from scratch.
A third drawing presence was provided by a trio of newly constructed drawbots sent from Monash University’s Sensilab by their artist-director Professor Jon McCormack.
